Pen plotter / single-stroke type

Write it once.
Plot it forever.

A photograph of your handwriting becomes single strokes. Type anything, add a diagram, and writekit draws it in your own letters — ready for the pen, not the printer.

PLATE 01 — TEXT + DIAGRAM A4 · 0.5 MM
LOADING PLATE…
— strokes — mm of ink generated, not photographed

Your handwriting is the last thing you can't type.

A plotter draws whatever file you give it. Set that text in a font and it stops being yours: the lean, the uneven spacing, the small corrections all vanish.

writekit rebuilds the letters from your actual page, then redraws any text — and any diagram — as strokes a pen can follow.

PLOTTED PAGE, PHOTOGRAPHED ON THE DESK · 0.5 MM BLACK INK

A plotted page photographed on a wooden desk, filled with handwriting.

The pipeline

From photograph to pen stroke.

Five deterministic stages. The same text and the same seed produce the same page, down to the stroke order.

  1. A

    Photograph

One page of your writing, flat on a desk.

A photograph of handwriting on ruled paper.
  2. B

    Rectify

Registration marks square the page; red rules and margins are erased.

  3. C

    Glyphs

Each letter becomes a single stroke, with allographs for repeats.

  4. D

    Compose

Text is set, wrapped, wobbled and seeded.

  5. E

    Plot

SVG, PDF or G-code — validated before it leaves.

A detail of plotted single-stroke letters.

Sample plates

One paragraph, three hands.

Same words, same A4 page, same 0.5 mm pen. Only the captured hand changes.

The sample paragraph plotted in a print hand.
01 PRINT base hand · seed 0 · 0.5 mm
The sample paragraph plotted in a cursive hand.
02 CURSIVE joined strokes · slant 8°
The sample paragraph plotted with a hybrid captured and base hand.
03 HYBRID captured + base fallback
THE SAME PARAGRAPH

“the lines are clean, but the spacing is not, and that is the point.”

DETAIL / HEART, VECTORISED

Text and image, one plot

A diagram is just more strokes.

Photograph or draw a figure. writekit vectorises it to single strokes, keeps its red and black inks, and sets it on the same page as the text. The plotter does not know the difference.

  • 01 Centreline for coloured ink, outline for neutral ink.
  • 02 Inline, top of page, or its own page.
  • 03 Caption, border and inset are part of the document.

The PDF on the left is the real output: handwriting and heart in one file.

Local-first by construction

It never leaves your machine.

writekit is a local Python engine, not a service. Your photographs, your hand and your pages stay on the disk you chose. There is no account to create and no server holding your writing.

The UI binds to localhost only. “Cloud” is not a setting, because it does not exist.
